Ready?

Being ready for anything takes hard work! Just trying to go anywhere, we always lose or forget those essentials. The wallet. The keys. The phone. Truth be told, sometimes we even forget to bring family members with us,(like our children). When we get ready, we must be Prepared Ahead Of Time.

We must schedule when we are leaving to go somewhere. We must get dressed for whatever the occasion is. We must have all essentials in a known location before leaving. Lastly, if we are bringing a family member with us to a certain place, then we must notify them when we are leaving so they too can get prepared.

Now where am I going with this, you may ask? Well here it is.

Basically, the main idea is that the preparing we do when leaving our houses, we should also do to be READY for Jesus’ arrival. Now here’s the Christian twist on that.

“He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

GOOD NEWS! Jesus is coming back! He’s coming back to take all the Christians to Heaven with him.

He didn’t let us know when he was leaving Heaven to come get us. So we simply cannot schedule when he is coming to bring us to the promised land. Therefore, referring back to my 1st point. How do we dress for the occasion if his arrival is unknown? The Bible teaches us to always have the Armor of God on. Now that doesn’t mean that when you become a Christian, that you get a mysterious package on your doorstep with your Armor of God gear inside of it. However, it does mean that by reading your Bible, the Holy Spirit will help you learn how to use what God is giving you.

The Bible teaches us about a spiritual Armor of God. The breastplate of Righteousness. The shoes of Peace. The sword of the Spirit. The helmet of salvation. The shield of Faith. Lastly, the belt of Truth. In simple-terms, just as armor protects your body from harm, the spiritual armor of God guards your heart from giving into fleshly desires. Essentially, the armor of God is God’s spiritual reminders that we take with us from day to day.

Guard our hearts with God’s righteousness, Guard our actions with God’s peace in every situation, Guard our body with the Holy Spirit’s convictions of goodness, Guard our mind with Jesus’ unending salvation which forgives all of our sinful desires, Guard our body with God’s protection against satan’s plans, and lastly Guard our balance through God’s Word keeping us upright and firm.

Alright now that we are dressed for the occasion. We must have all our essentials in a known location. Meaning when Jesus comes back, don’t be trying to search for your Bible. If we are truly believers in Christ, we must use the Bible as sort-of an energy supply. We keep supplying our spiritual battery by staying in God’s word as much as possible. Now keep in mind, God isn’t going to come into your house doing a security check to make sure you know where your Bible is before he brings you up to heaven. I’m simply reminding you that we need to always be READY for Jesus to arrive. We can’t decide to be a Christian as soon as God returns. Because again, his arrival is unknown. “Soon”, could mean now or tomorrow or another thousand years! Therefore, along with having our armor of God we must be training ourselves constantly in his WORD.

Lastly, because Jesus is arriving at either SO:ON AM or SO:ON PM, we don’t know when to alert our family and friends before he arrives. I’m glad he didn’t let us know though. If Jesus said, “I’m coming tomorrow at 3pm.” I probably wouldn’t have urgency to spread the gospel to anybody, because I’d feel like “Why does it matter? I’m leaving soon anyways.” Because Jesus didn’t give us his arrival time, it gives us meaningful time to let our friends and families know the Good News, so that they can join along.

I’ll leave you with this. The term Jesus used is genius. “Soon” gives us everything we need to know about his arrival. Because “Soon” is a universal meaning, no one can interpret when soon really is. Therefore, the only thing we can do, is to be ready for the NOW.

We can put on our Armor of God NOW

We can be trained in God’s Word NOW

We can bring passengers along our journey with Jesus NOW

To be truly “READY” for Jesus Christ to bring us to Heaven, we must be prepared for the “NOW” because he is prepared for the “SOON”.

SO…. Are you Ready?
